Both cause rejections of both ware potatoes and processing crops.

Potato mop top virus (PMTV) Is one of the causes of spraing, the term given to a range of internal and external symptoms in potato tuber flesh consisting of brown, necrotic rings, arcs and flecks. Powdery scab (Spongospora subterranea) is a fungal blemish disease of potatoes. A cosmetic defect with small lesions occurring in the early stages of the disease, progressing to raised pustules containing a powdery mass.
